Surgery
Laser vision correction surgery step by step
- In the Preparation & Recovery Room, the nurse will help you to put on the patient gown, protective shoe covers and the protective cap: the clothing you should be wearing during surgery.
- The skin of your face will be thoroughly cleansed with a disinfectant.
- After you walk into the treatment room and lie down comfortably on the bed, anaesthetic eyedrops will be instilled into the eye that will be operated on.
- Throughout the surgery your face will be covered with a special sterile drape with an opening cut out for the eye.
- A lid speculum will be used to prevent you from blinking and the bad will be placed under the laser arm.
- If you are undergoing LASIK, SBK LASIK, Epi-LASIK surgery, a device called the “microkeratome” will be used to separate a flap or epithelium (Epi-LASIK) in your cornea. This is completely painless and you will only hear the sound of the device.
- If you are undergoing LASEK surgery, an alcohol solution will be applied to make the removal of corneal epithelium possible.
- A laser programmed specifically for your refractive error will be positioned over your eye and vision correction will be performed. This will take one or two minutes and you will only hear the laser work. This stage is painless!
- Following laser ablation, the flap or epithelium of your cornea will be repositioned (put back in place).
- After it is checked that the cornea is repositioned perfectly, you will be taken to the Preparation & Recovery Room, where you will stay for about an hour under constant care of the medical staff.

During surgery follow all the instructions of the surgeon and the medical staff and remain calm and relaxed.
After an hour’s rest the operator will check your eyes using a device called the "slit lamp". If no contraindications are found, you will be allowed to go home. You will be given a set of documents concerning the surgery and the eye drop application plan. The time of a follow-up visit the next day will be scheduled, during which your eyes will be thoroughly examined, further follow-up visits will be scheduled and all your questions will be answered.
